The Weber Company is known around the world for their quality grills. Recently the Summit family from Weber is appreciated as the “top of the line” in outdoor gas grills. Included in the Summit line is the S-670 that is available in liquid propane and natural gas fueled models.
The S-670 is the stainless steel version of the Weber Summit gas grill. It is sold as two model numbers for consumers to choose from:
- 7370001 – Liquid Propane (LP) : Click here for details (or scroll down)
- 7470001 – Natural Gas (NG) : Click here for details (or scroll down)
Both versions of the S-670 have six stainless steel, 60,000 BTU-per-hour main burners, with two stainless steel work surfaces, one on either side of the grill. The liquid propane models include an enclosed cart that has chrome-plated handles. More features enjoyed by users of the Weber Summit S-670 gas grill include:
- 8,000 BTU smoker burner and smoker box
- 10,600 BTU sear burner
- 10,600 BTU infrared rear mounted “tuck away” rotisserie burner
- 12,000 BTU flush mounted side burner
The liquid propane model and the natural gas model are identical in appearance, including lighted control knobs, two handle lights, Weber cookbook with suggested recipes using all feature burners included on the grill. The liquid propane model does not include the liquid propane tank, however, it does have the enclosed cart for keeping the tank out of sight, which enhances the streamline look of the grill. The natural gas model comes with a ten-foot flexible hose for connection to a natural gas source.
Finishing off the design, both models have an accent-colored painted steel frame and six tool hooks. Weber designed the S-670 models (LP and NG) with a total cooking area that measures 838 square inches, the largest total cooking area in the Summit family. The larger grilling area and warming rack make the S-670 ideal for large groups of friends or family, while still convenient for a family of two.
The S-670 liquid propane gas grill has been reviewed on several websites, each commenting on their preferred features of the outdoor grill.
The Summit S-670 generally earns ratings of five stars in three categories:
Calling it the “Cadillac of Grills” the S-670 will grill and sear steak, cook rotisserie chicken, roast potatoes and vegetables, make delicious seafood, juicy and tender lamb, or pizza.
Consumers recommend the extra purchase of a Weber clay pizza stone for the S-670 gas grill. Using the different cooking areas, recipe suggestions from a Weber cookbook, and your own experience, there are no limits to the creations you can make. Whether you enjoy the grill for your own satisfaction or to impress the neighborhood, the S-670 backyard grill gives you the opportunity to perform with this grill.
Buzzillions.com website also reviews eleven customer comments and gives the S-670 LP model a rating of 4.9 of the possible five-star rating. The ten 5-star ratings agreed with those reviews found elsewhere calling the S-670 the “best Weber grill” on the market.
Customers thought the propane grill was easy to assemble, easy to use and easy to clean. In the single 4-star review that we found, that particular customer found the S-670 liquid gas grill to have difficult instructions on assembly, and no cover included in the purchase. However, even this review revealed no weakness in the grill’s cooking ability.
Amazon.com currently has six reviews of the LP model Summit S-670, but each of these also agreed to the 5-star rating. Click here to read those reviews. Collectively these reviews were enthusiastic about the large cooking area, even heating and quality construction.
Users are especially happy with the rotisserie burner that actually works as promised. One 5-star review commented that it took the delivery driver longer to unload and peel off protective tape on the stainless steel, than the forty minutes it took for assembly.
Weber Summit S-670 Stainless Steel Natural Gas Grill
Buzillions.com also reviewed fifty-one customer comments on the natural gas version of the Summit S-670 . As seen on the liquid propane grill, a large majority of users awarded 5-star ratings (42 of the 51 reviews). Seven of the 51 reviews also graded the grill with four stars.
47 customers agreed that the natural gas version was a good, quality design, easy to use and easy to clean, providing even heat throughout the cooking process. Four-star reviews had difficulty with instructions from Weber and assembly of the grill. Unfortunately, the one- and two-star reviews had difficulty with the ignition starter and they missed the charcoal flavor of the natural gas grill.
Amazon.com also received eight reviews from customers who purchased the natural gas version of the stainless steel S-670 grill. Click here to read those reviews. Similar to the liquid propane version, there were no one- or two-star reviews. All consumers found nothing, or very little to complain about. However, in two of the eight reviews, customers had issues with defective equipment, or that Weber did not include a cover with this outdoor grill. The defective equipment was replaced by Weber at no charge, after ten days. Both recommended to customers to purchase the grill cover, and you can enjoy your Summit S-670 gas grill for many years.
